What I Believe

What follows is my doctrinal statement, my creed, if you will. My “creed” is the foundation of my life and everything that I write.

The Bible

The Bible is the inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) and is wholly and completely inspired by God. The Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by human authors. Because these human authors, in the original manuscripts, were inspired by the Holy Spirit, everything that they wrote is the Word of God and without error (2 Peter 1:20-21).

God

There is only One God (Deuteronomy 6:4). God is Spirit and is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). He is infinite and eternal and existed before time and space. He is omni-everything (omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient). God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, yet each operate/function in perfect unity with each other (Matthew 3:13-17; John 17:21). God has no beginning and no end (Revelation 1:8). He is immutable (Hebrews 13:8). He is the creator of all things (Genesis 1:1) that exist, including time and space, and He is bound by neither. He is sovereign over all creation (1 Chronicles 29:11; Daniel 2:20-22; Romans 9:20-23; Acts 17:24-25).

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity and possesses all of the attributes of the Godhead (Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2:5,6; Hebrews 1:3). It was through the Second Person of the Trinity that all things were created and He sustains all things by the power of His Word (Colossians 1:16-17). He was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20). He was tempted by Satan in every way yet was without sin (1 Peter 2:22; Hebrews 4:14-16). During the Incarnation, He existed as both God and Man (hypostatic union) (Luke 8:22-25; 1 Timothy 2:5) in order to fulfill scripture and to pay the penalty of sin. He was put to death on a cross in order to pay the penalty for the sins of all mankind (1 Peter 1:18-19; Acts 4:10-12). His death was sufficient to atone for all sins for all people but only effective for those who believe in Him as their Savior. After three days, God the Father raised Jesus from the grave to once and for all beat the snot out of Satan (defeat him) (Rommans 5:15-19). After His resurrection, He appeared to more that 500 persons (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9) forty days after He rose from the dead (Acts 1:3) and sat down at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19) where He now intercedes on behalf of all believers (1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14-16).

The Only Way to Heaven

I want to make this next point very clear to those who are reading this. All roads DO NOT lead to heaven. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven (John 14:6, 1 John 5:11-13, John 5:24, Romans 10:9-10, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, Romans 5:8-11, 1 Peter 3:18, Acts 16:28-31).

Eternal Security (Once Saved Always Saved)

A true believer

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit of God is the third person of the Trinity and possesses all the attributes of the Godhead. He is God. At the time of salvation, He indwells us (sets up house in our hearts) in order to reveal God to us (1 Corinthians 2:12; 1 Corinthians 3:16). The Holy Spirit also is responsible for convicting us of our sins (John 16:8). He also hands out spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11).

Angels

Angels are spirits created by God to worship and praise Him (Psalm 148:5). They are messengers of God
